Phoebe

Phoebe

Daughter of the Legend

Phoebe is the daughter of Ross Pfeiffer and Komarza. Komarza is pregnant with her at the end of Book I, but Siv time-warps Komarza a decade forward using the Silk Sand before Ross and Komarza can become a family. The royal family of the Ancients knows of Phoebe's coming. Phoebe possesses Synchronicity — a perfect, innate attunement with the universe itself. Her aim is flawless, her balance absolute. This is not magic; it works even on Earth where no magic exists. The universe sees Phoebe as its mechanism to restore balance in a world where the gods have perverted their technologies, creating a sadistic civilization of rituals and sacrifice for entertainment and indulgence. Tayzh discovers this power when Phoebe is still a baby — she throws food at his face dead center, he wipes it off, and she does it again. By the end of Book III, the cosmic accounting closes around her. The Ascension ritual that Orion has spent ages trying to hijack is set to resolve through Mantso, and Orion is willing to spend Phoebe to do it. She — still effectively a child — is the one squared off against a god-level Mantso in the final fight. She is killed in that combat by Mantso during his descent, but is revived by Tayzh using the Ace of Hearts.
