Snap

Snap is a detective who has spent years investigating the world of Ail and its magic. Her findings are compiled in her book of secrets — a comprehensive record of everything she has uncovered about how Ail's magic works. The book makes her a target. Around 75% through Book I, Snap lures a group of significant enemies into an underground bunker, telling them she will hand over the book. Instead, she opens the suitcase to reveal a bomb. She traps them inside and detonates it, sacrificing herself to eliminate them. Her book of secrets — all the detective work she did exploring Ail — survives her.
