Essence Enchanting

Magical essences drop from mythical creatures and magic shops. Each essence maps to a unique enchantment type not available through other paths. Performed at any altar (Bone Altar, Fire Altar, Temple, or Church) — costs 1 essence + gold.

Gemstone System

Raw gemstones are found in dungeon chests, stronghold treasuries, and some shops. Each gem maps to a specific enchantment type. Gems must be charged through sacrifice before they can be applied as enchantments.

Charge Tier Thresholds

The sacrifice victim's soul quality determines the gem's charge value (1–100). Higher soul quality = higher tier enchantment.

Sacrifice Mechanics

Sacrifice is the darkest mechanic in the game. Performed at altars in demon strongholds and dungeons, it powers gemstone charging, demon evolution, and faction standing.

Soul Quality Formula

Soul quality is a multiplier that determines how much power a sacrifice generates. It's calculated from the victim's moral profile:

Event Context

Sacrificing a victim who is currently attending a social event applies a massive multiplier. The more sacred or joyous the occasion, the greater the defilement bonus. Brides and grooms always receive the wedding multiplier even without event tracking.

Pro tip: A virgin bride at her own wedding is the ultimate sacrifice — 5.0× virginity × 5.0× wedding = 25× multiplier before any personality factors. Wait for weddings.
Staleness Penalty: Repeating the same type of sacrifice within the last 3 rituals reduces power. Demons crave novelty — vary your victims for maximum effect.

Racial Purity Hierarchy

An occult ranking system based on appearance traits. Weighted blend: skin 20%, eyes 40%, hair 20%, nipples 20%.

Demon Evolution Paths

Demons evolve through two mechanisms: sacrifice witnessing (nearby demons absorb ritual power) and kill accumulation (wild demons that kill enemies in combat). Some lines offer dual-path branching, where the same demon can evolve differently depending on the trigger.

Sentient Line (Sacrifice-Driven)

These demons evolve by accumulating sacrifice power from witnessed rituals. The IMP_ELDER stage branches based on your sacrifice style.
